Hellooooo!

Met up with dearest yeuns yesterday for lunch at Clarke Quay.
I overslept and was terribly terribly late so lunch was on me :D

We walked around for a very long time and I nearly died while climbing the stairs
(YES, ALL 90 STEPS OF IT)!
But we finally settled on dining at some french bisto/pub called Le Noir.

The weather was pretty good and we saw rich monks that smoked and looked at girls and can afford to sit the River Taxi =.=
And ah-tiongs who were super zi lian and camwhored at every possible angle -.-
Yes yes clarke quay certainly attracts all sorts of quirky people.



The lighting made our hair look dusty! And mine is in such a mess, as always.

Before dessert was served, we already finished our complimentary Sprite, so this waiter came up and offered a free refill .
"It's complimentary, just for today only!" *Big smile*

I think he's Malay? Tall, tattoo-ed, spiky hair, mid-2os?
He was pretty nice to us throughout the meal and smiled a lot.
And I really mean, A LOT.



Chocolate mousse with like erh, strawberry jam? LOL.
But the mousse was good though.

We finished up and I called for the bill, paid and waited for my change.

WTF.

He think he very cute isit! Even drew a tortoise with spiky hair~




LOL?! And yeuns said "you should write, *winks back* !"


However, what I don't understand is why he did this, despite me looking like this, with zero makeup on:


I guess must be because we were the only customers and he got nothing better to do?

Hahaha this is like the first time such a thing has happened to me, and I know it sounds super loser-ish but yes, this is the closest I've been to being hit on by a random stranger in all 18 years of my life :(

I'm going to store the receipt somewhere for keepsake, haha!

OMG im super touched you know cos she was doing it during her A's, despite having to study and all that!

After lunch I went off to Orchard for my long over-due facial.
And I very noobly got lost in the whole underpass / patterson link area.
Cos I took the wrong turn :(
Eventually 10 minutes late for facial :(
I think I need more time to familiarise myself with the routes!

Facial was less painful then I thought it would be, considering how badly I've neglected my nearly non-existent skincare regimen PLUS skipped facials for more than a year.
My face is still recovering now from all the shock though :X

Dinner was at Sakae @ Westmall with my family, and I seem to have lost my passion for sushi!
I think I'm becoming old cos I prefer hot piping ramen and bento now :(

Udders for dessert, Baileys & Bourbon.
It was fantastic.

Went home and busted several bucks on new clothes, can't wait for them to arrive!
I think I should check myself in Shopaholic Rehab.
I've spent so much on clothes the past few months, and all of which are bought online!
I barely bought anything from my trip in KL!
SHITSXZ.


Christmas is coming soon but I have no plans on Christmas!!!
GAIA / girls, are we going out?
This is so sad, I don't want to spend Dec 25 at home watching some re-runs of old Santa movies on Channel 5!!
Someone please bring me somewhere. Ask me out. Whatever!

Sorry for the lack in updates, I've been very tired recently.
I thought I was accustomed to the stupid 8 to 5 timetable already but apparently not :(


This is what long weekends can do to you ;



they put you in holiday mood.



I am struggling to be on track with my tutorials AND pay attention in class and lectures but it's so tiring cos I have such poor time managment.

And yes, I chose Shopping Mall Management for my elective, seems like a lot of people chose it too?
Okay hope they wont split us up if not lonely siol :(

Gems assignment is still completely untouched, I plan to start AND finish it by tomorrow, so that from thursday onwards I can start my studying.

MST is this coming Monday, and I have made 0% preparations.
This totally sucks.

I'm trying to reform, this semester.
Hope it will be reflected in my grades, or else I will be so disappointed and disheartened.

Finally finished uploading all my photos, split into two slides posts *sorry too many projects*
Tomorrow is going to be a long day so I hope to finish my work fast and then can faster update with all my 100 photos. Imba.
So much for Friday gems, seems like I only had 1 Wednesday free so far.
Sadded :(
Hope next term there isn't so much extra shit anymore if not I'm going to curse at the school.
Besides, how many DTRM people take wednesday gems?? Tskkkk.

Only reached home at like 11.30pm, had such a wonderful time catching up with my dearest GAIA, even though it was only mostly with those crazy guys.

Thursday was a mundane day, lessons from 8am until 4pm!
But my mood started to get chirpier when I dropped by the Convention Centre and supported my dear GAIA for SP CHEER!
Haha I think they were surprised to see me! (Okay this is what I would like to believe lahhh)


So YAY had a very short but fun 1+ hour sitting there crapping with them,
and to boost everyone's morale we even played Concentration game!
Somehow as usual, always Edmund, Lionel, Yunhui and me left in the circle!
I don't think I'm a good player but jiu shi heng heng never out? LOL.


HEHE OKAYY BACK TO TOPIC.



WE WON FIRST RUNNER UP! WOOHOO!

I'm so proud of GAIA! :D

I didn't manage to stay till the performance cos my mummy cooked dinner for me!
So when I was about to leave, Nigel suddenly cornered me and Farris blocked the door and moonie sort of tried to stop me by trying to ask me something which totally didnt make sense LOL.

AND THEN....

THEY ALL STARTED SINGING HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

HAHAHA I was super shocked and paiseh!
Cos we weren't the only ones in the rehearsal room and everyone was looking!
Then the representing group for CLS also ran forward and came to shake my hand and wish me happy birthday -.-
LOL so random! But I'm really very touched :D
Thank you for remembering, GAIA!
BUTTTT you still owe me birthday present hor. 1 from each person ah.
Hehe jk! ;D

So anyway, met baby at the mrt station and went home together.
Mummy suggested to cook steamboat as a simple celebration, of course I agreed!
Somehow it's like, the older you become, the lesser fanfare you expect/ desire?
Simplicity is really the best.


We sat around the table and had old-fashioned steamboat, all of us busy cooking our shabu shabu or catching fishballs in our little "nets". It was fun :)

I'm officially 18! Although it was long-awaited, and I had gotten used to telling others that I'm 18 this year, I still dreaded getting older by the day :(
But it's all worth it cos turning 18 was such a wonderful memory with all my loved ones to experience it with me.


The morning started with baby calling me to wake up, yet the lazy me refused :X
So our initial 11.45am lunch reservation had to be pushed back to 12.15pm because I woke up at 11am instead of the agreed 10, oops :(
But the previous 4 days were all so tiring because of the projects that were due and late night chionging plus 3 consecutive 8am lessons!
I'm sure you forgive me right hehehe! (although I oversleep all the time anyway)

Baby refused to tell me where we going and the plans for the day, so I had to be a good girl and just follow wherever he went.
He also being super nice lah cos he said we will cab everywhere and NO PUBLIC TRANSPORT FOR THE DAY.
Omgggg I felt so pampered woooo!
Should seriously start psycho-ing him to get a car hehe.

Anyway, first place of the day was Dozo restaurant at Valley Point!
It's somewhere around River Valley, but it's rather secluded as well.


I've heard of the restaurant before but never really found out what it was about.
But everything was just fantastic. Top notch service and gourmet cuisine :)


We were seated at a corner, right next to the windows, where the view was pleasant.
I could see the condo right next to Valley Point and the slow suburban traffic just across the road.


A waiter came and passed us our menus and also put this on our tables.
Apparently it is edible, and it tastes like Pretz!
Each stick is crispy and there are different flavours to choose from!
Super amazed and I couldn't stop munching on them throughout the meal :)

I think its sour plum or soursop or sth like that?
Not something that I would have chosen by myself but it tasted awesome :DDD



Some kind of berry tea, it tasted really fruity and refreshing!
I was tempted to ask the waiter if they sold the teabags hehe ;)

I had a wardrobe malfunction that day :(((
So after nearly half an hour of changing outfits I finally gave up and settled on the same dress I wore during Valetine's Day this year.
Minimal accesories and make-up cos we were running late :X



The decor of the restaurant was rather posh and there were private rooms too.
I think I shall bring my daddy here for his 50th birthday dinner (OMG he is that old already?!)
SHHHH dont tell him I said that kay ;D



Yes, it is THAT tasty (L)



For starters, we were served the chef's selection, which had

• Salmon with cream on a small mint leaf
• Seared scallop with asparagus
• Mini biscuit / biscotti? Not sure what it was but its kinda crispy

I didn't manage to take a picture of the menu as well so I'll just name the dishes myself if I cannot remember the actual names.

Baby's appetiser - Mushrooms and fried potato!
I asked him to take a picture of it and he took it from a very interesting angle right haha.
I told him it looks like Singapore Flyer (I also dunno why I said that).
The bread is super interesting cos it's ROUND and HOLLOW!
Presentation of food is definitely 10/10.



His fried poo-tah-toe and ferris wheel, LOL.



I wanted to try something different from the norm, so I decided to order.....















Okay you may think its yucky and cruel and just downright disgusting but the escargots were really good!
I've tried them before but it was a pretty long time ago and I forgot how it tastes like.
Normally they're just pan-fried or simply oven-baked, but Dozo baked the snails (de-shelled, obviously) with cheese, which is something I've never seen before.
YUMMY YUMMY :)

I don't care if you think it's disgusting, you should try it before you gross out!
Besides, it's not even half as disgusting as live scorpions or grasshoppers lor haha.
Just my opinion :)



Mushroom soup with black truffle
I think baby was feeling mushroom-y? Lol.
The waiter introduced the dish to us and told baby to "suck the truffle in your mouth for 5 seconds then drink the soup".




So baby did as he was told but he said he didn't taste any of the expensive truffle, and the mushroom soup just tasted like mushroom soup.
I told him good stuff on him is like a total waste of money. HAHAHA.
Black truffle is expensive okay! Which explains that pathetically small portion on his spoon.
It was barely the size of my fingernail lor!
But the mushroom soup was good, like the one I had at Amici.




I was in an adventurous mood so I ordered Crab Bisque Cappucino!
It wasn't the best crab bisque soup I've tasted but 10 marks for creativity! :D
Although it was rather funny when the waiter told me "The crab claw is just for decoration, please don't eat it" LOLOL.

My main course - hot stone beef tenderloin.
The fan-like thing is actually tempura, or basically the Pretz-ish sticks that we were served, but deep fried.
The beef was damn good, albeit a little oily.
I didn't try any of the tempura cos I had no idea how to stuff it into my mouth so I just gave it to baby instead LOL.



Don't know why but I like the layout of the stones alot!
Like some kind of mini sanctuary hehe :D



Next up was dessert.



Or so I thought.

A waiter appeared out of nowhere with a huge-ass plate in his hands and asked me solemnly "Are you Carlyn?" so I abit chua tio (how did he know my name?!) and said yes.
Then he put the plate down and said "HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!"
which seriously scared the hell outta me -.-

I think it was really sweet of Baby to tell them that it was my birthday and prepare a small cake for me!
I don't quite remember if they sang Happy Birthday (I don't think so) and the waiter offered to help us take photos :)



I told you there would be a lot of pictures of me and my cake. Hah!

I think it had apples and some other fruits.

I was reluctant to leave when we were done but Baby said we had somewhere else to rush to so we had to go :(

Anyway, for those interested, 6-course set lunch is about $40++ per person and 7-course set dinner is about $60++ per person.
I think it's super worth it cos the food is so good and the waiters really know what they are serving!
Plus I wouldn't mind paying more for the wonderful peaceful ambience too.
(Of course baby paid for the lunch lah lol)


It started raining heavily when we were about to leave so we called for a taxi and off we went to CINELEISURE!
Baby had bought tickets to New Moon in advance, (Y)!!!!



Eee I don't like guys who are beh-beh one (白白)!


Hence it's not difficult to deduce that my favourite character is none other than.........




















































I know he's only 17 but OH MAN THIS BOY IS HAWTTTT!
I remember grabbing baby's hand whenever Taylor Lautner took off his shirt in the movie cos OMFG LOOK AT HIS FREAKIN HOT BOD!
Okay I sound like a tiko peh but who cares, he is HAWT.

But I don't like his nose leh, not very nice.
My muumy say it's like pig nose -.-
SO MEAN.
But Bella has a very beautiful nose! Like literally triangle shape. Haha.

My favourite scene was when he and Bella were in the truck and nearly kissed, omg he is so cute!!!!! *drools*
The movie was quite alright, but the ending left the entire cinema in a rage.
There was a group of girls who went like "WHAT?! THAT'S IT?!?!?"
Hehe shall not be spoiler go watch it yourselves kay.
Taylor Lautner is totally worth your 8 bucks.


After the movie we cabbed down to Jalan Besar in search of some restaurant (which baby wouldnt tell me about) and we took a long time to get there cos the taxi uncle mixed up the addresses and took the wrong lane.
Plus the banner was really small so it was hard to spot, but we found it eventually.

The restaurant was very dim and I had to use the camera flash to take photos but yet the flash was super blinding so in the end not many photos were taken during dinner

Not as fantastic as Amici's crayfish pasta though :X



Baby's chicken and mushroom (YES MUSHROOM AGAINNNN) spaghetti with tomato sauce.
Mmm to be honest, I think PastaMania could serve it better.



Our Tiramisu cake, which kinda paled in comparison to Amici as well.
I know it's mean to compare but I think lunch was really too impressive and thus the high benchmark hahaha.
Kudos to baby for finding this restaurant though! :D



BLINDING FLASHHHH.


We were happily chatting at our table when suddenly the manager came up to us and said he had a reservation for 4 coming, so is it okay if we move to a smaller table instead?
Soooo, being the nice people that we are, we said yes and just moved lor :)


AND GUESS WHAT?

To thank us for our co-operation, the manager gave us a complimentary creme brulee!


This is actually our second creme brulee cos baby had one for dessert but I forgot to take a picture of it :X
I thought this one was really sweet and slightly nicer than the one at Dozo.


We left the restaurant at 8+ cos baby said I had to go home early to unwrap my present.
I was super unwilling and like uber buay song cos where got people go home so early during their birthday one!
But nvm, I was in a good mood plus I didn't want to create any trouble cos baby spent a lot of time and effort into planning everything so I just went along :)

We cabbed home and reached my place at about 9pm.
I was eager to open my present cos I was curious why it had to be opened so early and why opening present must see auspicious time one lol.


So I unsuspectingly walked to my room to put my bag down and the moment I stepped in I saw a glowing face staring right at me and I screamed!!!
The glowing face screamed back at me and suddenly my bedroom lights came on and then there were 4 other faces staring at me too so I screamed even louder!!!


And in the end the house was filled with the screams of 5 girls hahaha.

It turned out that my girls decided to surprise me by hiding in my bedroom with my cake!
I guess they didnt expect that the candle would make Joanniee's face glow and it was super scary to the max!

I was so freaked out that my eyes got teary! LOL timid me.

When I saw the familiar faces smiling at me I was really touched cos I didn't expect them to celebrate my birthday with me! At least not on the actual day.
So my teary eyes were because of 70% chua sai and 30% 感动.
But the chua sai feeling lasted for pretty long too LOL.

Anyway, we chatted until nearly 11, discussing our plans for next outing + possible clubbing!
WOOO we're all legal now, A's are over and HOLIDAYS ARE COMING!
These equals to ENDLESS FUNNNN :D
But stupid SB gave like tons of projects so I have to clear them first before I can go out and play :(

Hopefully we are able to meet up soon (I'm busy on the 12th leh OMG HOW?!)
Bade them farewell at my doorstep at 11pm.

This has definitely been my most memorable birthday celebration in all my 18 years;
I got to spend it with GAIA, my family, baby, and my girls :)
There were so many unexpected surprises which made my day so wonderful.
